Vacation Should feel Like a Break — Not a Breakdown in the Laundry Room 😉

Let’s be honest—when it comes to family vacations, “vacation” doesn’t start until Mom finishes packing everyone’s suitcase. From swimsuits to snacks to that one stuffed animal no one can sleep without, it’s a juggling act that can leave you feeling exhausted.

But here’s the good news: a simple checklist can turn that chaos into calm…and Shawn’s made a good one for you!

Whether you're headed to the beach, the mountains, or just down the street to Grandma’s house, we hope Shawn’s go-to packing list takes out the guesswork and gives you peace of mind ❤️

East Fam Kid-Friendly Packing Tips ✈️

  1. Pack by outfit – Roll complete outfits together (top, bottom, undies, socks) to make getting dressed super easy—no digging required!

  2. Always bring extras – Accidents happen. Pack extra socks, underwear and at least one full backup outfit in your carry-on.

  3. Layers are lifesavers – Weather can be unpredictable. Lightweight layers work better than bulky clothes and adjust to changing temps

  4. Include comfort items – A favorite stuffed animal, blanket, or book can soothe jet lag or homesickness and help with a meltdown

  5. Snacks always save the day – Bring familiar, non-messy snacks. Airport delays and foreign food adventures are easier with a granola bar in hand.

  6. Pack a mini medical kit – Include kids’ meds (especially for pain, fever, motion sickness), band-aids, and allergy meds if needed.

  7. Don't forget your travel documents – Bring passports (double-check expiration ahead of time) & copies of birth certificates

  8. Shoes matter – Bring one pair for walking, one for playing/water, and something comfy for the plane. Break them in beforehand!
