Here are 8 tips the Easts implement every year to make their back to school mornings more manageable
1. Prep Everything the Night Before: Lay out clothes, pack lunches and backpacks, sign permission slips, and charge your phone/laptop/ipads etc. The more you handle at night, the less you will scramble in the morning.
2. Create a Simple Routine: Keep it consistent and age-appropriate: Wake up → brush teeth → get dressed → eat breakfast → get out the door. Visual charts can also work great for younger kids!
3. Make Breakfast Easy: Think: overnight oats, pre-made egg muffins, smoothie packs, or toast with peanut butter and banana. (OR stock up on something the kids can grab themselves)
4. Set Up a “Launch Pad” station: Designate a spot by the door for backpacks, shoes, water bottles, and jackets. No more last-minute scavenger hunts, everything is ready to go in one place!
5. Reduce Decision Fatigue: Plan outfits for the week and rotate a few favorite breakfast or lunch combos. Think smarter, not harder 😉
6. Use Music as a Timer: Try a morning playlist with points like: “By song 2, we’re dressed. By song 4, we’re brushing teeth.” It’s a fun way to dance through the morning together as a family while still staying on track.
7. Stay Calm (Even When Your Kids Are Not): Your energy as the parent sets the tone. Take a deep breath before the chaos kicks in. Build in 1–2 minutes of connection with your kids, like snuggles or silly jokes, to start the day.
8. Let the Kids Take Ownership: Even little ones love feeling capable. Let them check off a visual list or choose between two breakfasts or outfits.
***Bottom line: Morning stress isn’t totally avoidable but with some planning and flexibility, it is totally manageable. You’ve got this! ❤️

Shawn and Andrew did a deep dive into the topic of forming family values. They talked about why this is so important and went through their own system of doing this in hopes it inspires you to do the same with your family! ❤️
