No Better Time For Family Traditions ❤️
According to experts, family traditions offer stability for families in a constantly changing world. For example, knowing that the holidays will be celebrated together in a similar way every year gives kids a sense of predictability and safety.
Experts also say that family traditions help kids build a sense of identity and can strengthen family bonds!
So what better time of year than the holidays to try out some new traditions and see what sticks for your family!

We Asked For Your Weirdest Traditions… and You Delivered! 🤪
Last week, we asked our newsletter subscribers to send in your weirdest family traditions! Shawn and Andrew read their favorites in a podcast episode you can find below and said it was one of their favorite episodes of all time 🙂
Here are some of your other “weird family traditions” we loved🙂
🍔 “Happy Meal Christmas” - We have Burgers & Milkshakes for Christmas Eve after church service every single year.
❤️ “State Your Intentions!” -At Christmas, whoever has a new boyfriend or girlfriend, must have them stand on their chair and state their intentions while my whole family cheers them on & asks questions. We’re also loud so this turns into a joyous, fun time:)
🎶 “American Christmas Idol” - For Christmas, we randomly draw teams and judges, then each team has 10 minutes to rehearse an assigned Christmas song and perform it for everyone using whatever props they could find around the house. Judges score on participation, creativity, and overall performance.
🇺🇸 “Festive Freedom” - Instead of Christmas cards my family does 4th of July cards instead
🍞 “Sweet and Savory” - My family eats cinnamon rolls with gravy on Christmas morning! Don’t knock it until you try it! Perfect sweet and savory mix!
Can You Spot Three Magic Elves 😉 🎅🏼
Shawn and Andrew had so much fun with their little “Elf on a Shelf” they decided to get two more!
(Soooo….just curious, what’s the plural form of “Elf on a Shelf?”…”Elves on Shelves?!”🤪)
Whatever it is, we’re loving everyone’s creative ideas for their magical elves this year!
